Custom Reports
From Adtool
From the Application main window select a desired report from the tree. When the report is loaded click Print button.
From the Print Preview window, select Configurable report type.
In the Report Column Configuration window
Select desired number of columns, columns names, columns font, color, size, grow (the column field grows vertically so that all data it contains can be printed or previewed), columns header style (font, size, color, background color). Click OK button and the report will be loaded into the Print Preview window.
If it is required, the report page orientation can be changed to Portrait or Landscape from the top tool bar of the Print Preview window.
If you want to continue changing your report, click the Configure button from the top tool bar of the Print Preview window and the Report Column Configuration window will appear again.
When all changes are made and the report is loaded, select Export Report button (the first button from the left) from the second tool bar from the top.
In the Export Report window select desired location to save the report, type the report name and select Crystal Report (*.rpt) report type.
When the report is exported, Export Completed confirmation message will appear.
Now we can open our saved report template as a custom report. To do that, select Custom from the report type drop down,
Select your saved report template from the Select Report window and click OK button.
Your report data will be loaded into your saved report template.
If you loaded your custom report and then switched to default report type, the default report type will be loaded, then if
you switch back to the custom report type, your custom report will be loaded right away without showing you the Select Report window because it was loaded before. To load another saved custom report, click on Select Report button from the top tool bar of the Print Preview window and select any saved custom report from Select Report window.
The only thing to remember, if you load Users or Computers (from 2.2.1.1 version) report, whatever columns you selected to display in a grid, those columns (LDAP attributes) will be loaded from Active Directory. This is done to improve performance of loading reports. If you select only some columns to display (not all), the report will be loaded much faster than if you select all columns (LDAP Attributes). If you select Last Logon column to display, every Domain Controller in a domain will be scanned to provide accurate results and this could slow down the loading process as well.
Since the report template is saved as an rpt file, you can use Crystal Reports to modify it. You can select database fields from the Field Explorer and drag and drop them to your report. If, in a Users or Computer report template, you selected a database field which was not loaded (not displayed in a grid), it will be just empty when you load report data. This is only for Users and Computers report types. For Groups and Organizational Units report types all the Attributes will be loaded even if you hide some columns in a grid.
